About the role: We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, and integration of electric motor and battery module systems for advanced electrified powertrains. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design, thermal management, and structural analysis, with a focus on electric propulsion systems.
Responsibilities- Lead mechanical design and analysis of electric propulsion components including electric motors, battery modules and their associated sub-assemblies and components
- Develop, optimize and validate electric motor assemblies and energy storage system sub-assemblies for performance, safety, and reliability
- Ownership of development packages, and delivery of these on time and on budget
- Collaborate with other departments through hardware design, validation, delivery and operation (Quality, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Test)
- Conduct structural and thermal simulations using FEA and CFD tools to validate designs
- Support prototype development, testing, and validation of mechanical systems
- Generate detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company quality requirements
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement activities
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 7+ years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency in 3D CAD (Solid Works preferred) and PDM systems
- Strong understanding of GD&T: ASME Y14.5-2009 & ASME Y
- Experience with FEA and CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL, Abaqus)
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, or renewable energy sectors
- Knowledge of systems engineering and model-based design
- Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA)
- Aviation propulsion systems experience is advantageous
