Salary range: $81,470 - $128,020 annually
- Same as a Flammability Engineer, except his/her experience provides a Senior Flammability Engineer with the responsibility to lead a project and guide the creation of flammability substantiation reports in a way that will ensure first time quality. Further, he/she should have a good relationship with all customers, and a clear understanding of their expectations in terms of technical documentation in order to gain acceptance of a report's first or second submittal.
Only Senior Flammability Engineers will be considered for FAA DER's, ODA UM's and EASA CVE's as needed. - Reviews all relevant technical specifications for the project including delivery matrices, customer finish specifications and general arrangement engineering drawings.
- Participates in design reviews via supporting the design team in all in-house and customer design reviews by being familiar with the proposed engineering design (interiors, systems, electrical, etc.) and finishes with the ability to identify and address potential problematic material combinations and proposing method of showing compliance during the review.
- Prepares flammability substantiation documents, such as flammability test plans and flammability test reports to show compliance to applicable regulatory requirements and further is responsible to prepare all documents related to the flammability substantiation of an assigned unit.
- Conducts Peer reviews of test plans and reports for quality and accuracy.
- Coordinates new program resources with design engineers, program managers and production managers.
- Responsible for reviewing engineering drawings that are particular to his/her project. The flammability engineer's signature on a drawing indicates that the new design or design change is approved; that is, the subject part, its end item, and the aircraft on which the end item is installed are all acceptable for flammability and initiate a test plan to substantiate the change if necessary.
- Responsible for a general understanding of the testing protocol used to in the flammability lab for certification of the products referenced within assigned test plan and/or report.
- Customarily and regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment.
- Supports proposal activity by providing estimates for the flammability group involvement in each active proposal.
- Define resources needed to support each program and oversee program budget for the flammability group to assure they are tracking to be on or under budget. Keep man-loading up to date to reflect each person's involvement on each program.
- Be responsible for tracking deliverables for each program and assure deliverables are being met on time to support kit shipment and certification efforts.
- Ensure the flammability database is maintained and up to date with the latest flammability information.
- Provide oversight of the flammability test coupons to ensure they are tracking to the program schedules.
- BS or higher in Mechanical, Chemical or Materials Engineering or equivalent training, preferred.
- 5-8 years in aerospace flammability.
- Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, AutoCAD, Microsoft Access, Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Proven ability to lead others, provide guided direction and feedback.
- Project Management.

- Ability to work independently or within a team.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Understanding of customer's expectations.
