Job Description

The primary responsibility is to work closely with other members of the engineering staff to define the equipment architecture, detail drawings, bearing selection and definition of materials. The role includes conducting equipment failure analysis, static, fatigue and dynamic analyses of mechanical components and mechanisms using classical methods and FEA software. The engineer will assist the Quality department and support OEM production as needed, write Qualification Test Plans (QTP), Qualification Test Reports (QTR), Qualification Justification Notes (QJN), manage qualification tests, and may manage some development projects, particularly projects to reuse/modify an existing fan.

Responsibilities

and Duties
  • All aspects of the product mechanical design.
  • Work closely with French and US engineering teams from concept to production.
  • Interpret equipment requirements to translate into the design of mechanical components.
  • Conduct equipment failure analysis for equipment, including mechanical and electrical components.
  • Perform component and mechanism analytical calculations such as rotor dynamics, thermal analysis, bearing selection.
  • Analyze FEA reports.
  • Assist team members in design, material selection, equipment architecture, and design for manufacturing.
  • Conduct tolerance studies.
  • Create detail and assembly drawings.
  • Create product bill of materials.
  • Work closely with Quality, Supply Chain and Production departments to support development of new programs and serial production.
  • Integrate electrical components/subassemblies in the equipment.
  • Provide test and evaluation support, including input to Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP).
  • Write QTP, QTR, QJN and other technical documents.
  • Manage qualification tests at external laboratories.
  • Mentor colleagues.
  • Elaborate and manage schedule.
  • Manage project reviews internally and with customers.

Job Requirements Education
  • BS or MS in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • 5–8 years of engineering experience in the aircraft or related industry.
Skills and Requirements
  • Good knowledge of aerospace procedures, tools, hardware and MIL specifications.
  • Proficiency with test setups and related data acquisition devices.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and initiative to work independently or cross‑functionally.
  • Experience with Solid Works stress analysis, mechanical motion modeling, and weight and balance analysis.
  • Understanding of MIL‑STD‑810/RTCA‑DO‑160 and aircraft certification requirements.
  • Knowledge of design practices, fasteners, materials, and part specification.
  • Understanding of manufacturing methods, design‑for‑manufacturing, manufacturing cost concepts, and materials.
  • Design for minimum part count and weight reduction; knowledge of thermal, strength, rigidity and vibration requirements.
  • Good understanding of aircraft plumbing, hydraulics, refrigeration, structure, and component placement.
  • Experience with electrical harness assembly processes, soldering, and crimping.
  • Excellent knowledge of drafting standards (ANSI Y14.5).
  • Self‑motivated, adaptable, capable of working under pressure with multiple tasks.
