The City of Everett is accepting applications on an open/competitive basis for one (1) appointive position to fulfill this body of work. The position and level of engineer hire will be determined by the applicant's qualifications for Associate Engineer PE or Associate Engineer NPE. This position works primarily with the Utilities division of Public Works.
About The JobThe successful Associate Engineer PE or Associate Engineer NPE candidate will perform engineering analysis, internal and external stakeholder coordination, and project management tasks as they relate to the planning, design, and construction of capital improvement projects under supervision of the Principal Engineer. The Utilities Division is responsible for delivering a robust portfolio of Capital Improvement Projects including projects of varying size and complexity.
The successful candidate will play an integral role in guiding analysis, design, and construction teams from project initiation and development through project completion. Projects are likely to include a mix of in-house and consultant-led design and may involve the use of alternative delivery methods. Individuals in this class are expected to possess knowledge of engineering analysis and design standards specific to civil infrastructure and construction practices and will encounter a wide variety of work situations requiring the use of technical judgement and task or team coordination.
This position also requires strong communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal) to ensure effective coordination and collaboration with various stakeholders, consultants, and City staff.
The Utilities Division of the Everett Public Works Department plays a key role in the development, maintenance, and operation of Everett's regional utility systems that provide drinking water to approximately 675,000 people and sewer services for nearly 200,000 people. Everett currently operates and maintains 87 miles of large-diameter water transmission lines, 20 water storage tanks and reservoirs, water pumping stations, over 400 miles of water distribution pipe, 34 sewer lift stations, 350 miles of sewer distribution pipe, 300 miles of storm water piping, regional water filtration and sewer treatment plants, the Port Gardner Storage Facility, citywide stormwater detention and treatment systems, etc.
Under supervision of the Principal Engineer, this position will participate in management and execution of multi-disciplinary engineering projects as required to meet infrastructure operations and maintenance needs. - Prepare plans, specifications, cost and quantity estimates and bid procedures for public works and other city construction projects.
- Provide support to coordinate and prioritize engineering projects with other city departments, county and state departments, and other relevant agencies or parties.
