Software Certification Engineer (Associate, Mid‑Level, Experienced)
At Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) we are looking for Associate, Mid‑Level & Experienced Software Certification Engineers to join our engineering team located in Everett, WA. This role is critical to developing and certifying safe, reliable, and innovative aircraft. The Software Certification Engineer will play a vital role in fostering a culture of safety and excellence, making significant contributions to the certification process that underpins the trust of our customers and the flying public.
- Designs, develops, analyses, and maintains software systems that meet industry, customer, and internal quality, safety, security, and certification standards.
- Partners with stakeholders to inform system definition and translate system‑level requirements into software requirements and models that meet customer, operational needs, and performance requirements with clear traceability.
- Oversees the preparation and submission of comprehensive technical documentation required for FAA certification, ensuring all materials reflect the highest standards of accuracy and thoroughness.
- Completes system‑level analyses to identify risks, issues, and opportunities; integrates and deploys mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle.
- Performs code reviews to ensure alignment with requirements and standards.
- Monitors and reviews test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution for software systems.
- Develops user documentation and training to educate end users on software usage.
- Reviews product and process for alignment with project plans and industry standards by tracking and evaluating internal team and supplier performance.
- Implements current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development.
- Performs software project management and supplier management activities.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in software engineering.
- 2+ years of experience with software development using Java, C++, or Python.
- 1+ year of experience with RTCA DO‑178(B/C) Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in an accredited engineering, science, or mathematics discipline.
- 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience leading the development, documentation, and maintenance of software architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs.
- Knowledge of relevant compliance regulations (e.g., FAA, ISO, ITAR).
Travel: 10% (if required)
