The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design and delivery of the company's electric powertrain products. The Mechanical Engineer will evaluate requirements and use cases to create and iterate detailed CAD models of design options including rotatives, structures, materials/lubrication selections, assembly processes, and test methods.

Additionally, the Mechanical Engineer will be expected to support design documentation development and release, write technical reports, test requirements, and analyze test results. This role is heavily focused on product release and documentation rather than net-new product design.

Pay - $44/hr.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Apply aerospace standard design practices to electric aircraft motors and sub-components, including machined components, bearing selection/sizing, material selection, coatings, fasteners, lubricants, DFM.
  • Conduct trade studies on design and manufacturing options, identify methods for risk reduction and technology development.
  • Produce complete design packages detailed drawings, analysis reports, BOMs, assembly instructions.
  • Conduct reviews of designs, manufacturing plans, and test procedures to ensure compliance with design and performance requirements.
  • Coordinate with other departments through hardware delivery and operations (Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Testing, etc.).
  • Lead resolution of technical problems, achieving buy-in from cross-functional teams.
  • Develop a strong understanding of technical and certification requirements for Electric Propulsion Units for aviation.

Qualification Requirements

  • (Non-negotiable) 3-5+ years of relevant experience.
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
  • (Non-negotiable) Must have Solid Works experience (strong design experience in Solid Works vs. familiarity from school). The team needs good drafters who are engineers; engineers who understand how parts are manufactured and who can produce quality drawings efficiently.
  • (Non-negotiable) Must have experience working in a manufacturing setting (manufacturing knowledge is more important than advanced theoretical design experience).
  • Preferred industry experience in Aerospace, Defense, Battery Technology, Electrification, Advanced Manufacturing, Industrial Equipment, Robotics, or Electromechanical Products.
  • General PLM experience.
  • Proficiency in mechanical design and engineering drawings.
  • Production drawing generation.
  • Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM).
  • Engineering documentation.
  • Ansys experience is a bonus.

Employee Value Proposition

  • This is not a maintenance engineering job, a sustaining engineering role, or a company building incremental improvements to existing products. This is an opportunity to help bring next-generation electrification technology from development into real-world production.
  • You'll join a rapidly growing engineering organization that is helping transform how aircraft, defense systems, data centers, heavy transportation, and energy infrastructure are powered. The team has already demonstrated real-world success, with electric propulsion technology flown across multiple aircraft platforms, and is now entering a major commercialization and production phase.
  • Key reasons engineers are excited about this opportunity:
    • Work on technology that is actively changing the future of aerospace and electrification.
    • Influence products that move from prototype into production.
    • Gain exposure to batteries, electric motors, power systems, aerospace hardware, and advanced manufacturing.
    • Work directly with highly experienced engineers in a collaborative environment.
    • See your work quickly translate into deliverable hardware rather than spending years on theoretical development.
    • Significant company investment and executive backing are fueling aggressive growth and new product expansion.
    • Opportunity to support applications beyond aerospace, including defense, mobility, energy storage, and data center technologies.
    • High visibility role with meaningful ownership and direct impact on program execution.
    • Strong potential for long-term career growth as the organization continues to scale.
