Veritas is a highly respected and trusted home care agency, where Caregivers seek to work by choice due to employee friendly team and policies.

We are recruiting for an experienced Caregiver to provide companion care for a memory care client in Everett.

Client's needs lean heavily toward companionship, conversation and gentle redirection.

About Client:

She is a warm, intelligent lady who values her independence very highly and doesn't feel she needs care. She lost her husband of 54 years two years ago and is still grieving. Her care plan centers on building a predictable daily rhythm using a cue‑and‑support approach, so she does as much as she safely can herself. She responds well to companionship and meaningful activities (puzzles, games on her tablet, sorting family photographs).

Practical help is accepted when it's woven into that, not when visits feel task‑focused. She also has reduced vision on her left side, so the caregiver should sit or approach from her right.

What the ideal caregiver looks like
  • Mature and emotionally grounded, with meaningful life experience. Someone Helen will see as a peer and companion rather than "help"
  • Strong communicator: patient, an attentive listener, comfortable with long conversations, and good eye contact
  • Gentle authority: able to redirect and coax without being overpowering (e.g., encouraging her to eat, clearing expired food from the fridge, tidying and moving items with her agreement)
  • Warm and affectionate in manner; comfortable offering appropriate physical reassurance, such as a hug, when she welcomes it
  • Experience with older adults who are grieving or resistant to care; dementia/cognitive‑support experience would be a plus
  • Able to provide all ADLs and IADLs as needed, but led by relationship rather than task lists
  • Reliable and consistent. Continuity with one regular caregiver will matter a great deal for building her trust
