Security Officer – Swedish Medical Center, Everett, WA, Full‑time, Variable shift (on‑site)
ResponsibilitiesThe Security Officer provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff and property.
Duties include:
- Conduct random patrols of the facility and respond to alarms, security incidents and safety hazards.
- Document actions and observations during the shift and submit remedial requests for any concerns identified.
- Provide traffic control, safe patient handling and assistance to clinical staff regarding patient release and restraint.
- Assist with safe patient handling, traffic control and respond to alarms and codes by providing traffic control and assisting with safe patient handling.
- Use physical force when necessary to maintain the safety of the patient care environment; run, climb stairs, carry people or perform other physical acts in response to emergent situations.
- Engage in routine customer service activities, provide directions and help people find their way.
- Use computers to write reports and logs and to monitor security cameras and access control systems.
- Work on multiple campuses as needed to meet staffing needs.
- Within 90 days of hire:
Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association. - Within 6 months (180 days) of hire:
Successful completion of TASER© training and certification (annual re‑certification). - Within 6 months (180 days) of hire:
Successful completion of AVADE/HDTS (Healthcare Defensive Tactics System) Training and Certification. - Customer service experience and/or training.
- Associate’s Degree.
- 1 year of related civilian or military security/law enforcement experience.
- Healthcare security experience.
