Mechanic B - Transdev in Everett, WA is hiring a Mechanic (B) who is an experienced fleet technician to diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment, perform daily safety inspections, under general supervision. We are seeking friendly, customer service-oriented people who are dedicated to safety.
Non-CBA Position
Responsibilities- Performs transit vehicle maintenance that is compliant with Transdev standards
- Inspects, diagnoses, services and/or repairs all assigned transit vehicles and related mechanical equipment
- Conducts diagnostic tests to identify issues and determine necessary repairs
- Ensures accurate upgrades and/or modifications on coach systems, road calls, and on-the-road repairs as needed
- Performs routine maintenance tasks to prevent breakdowns and optimize performance
- Collaborates with team members to ensure efficient and accurate repairs and shop safety
- Completes preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections and annual maintenance inspections
- Ability to make repairs including but not limited to: suspension, tires, brakes, exhaust and electrical
- Performs advanced troubleshooting and repair tasks on engines, including replacing engines, transmissions and differentials
- Understands air conditioning R134a and is able to repair
- Other duties as required
- Must be at least 21 years old with a high school diploma, GED or equivalent
- Maintenance experience with all types of heavy-duty transit equipment
- For Mechanic B level: 3-4 years experience
- Commercial Driver's License with passenger and airbrake endorsements (development opportunities offered for obtaining your license)
- Appropriate Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification preferred
- Excellent communication skills with ability to read and interpret safety documents, blueprints, schematics and other mechanical diagrams
- Ability to pass a DOT physical examination, including a background and a drug test
- Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; 100% of the job is performed outside and in remote locations
- Sit for extended periods (up to 6–8 hours per day); frequently walk long distances and on possibly sloped, slippery, and uneven surfaces
- Push and pull objects up to 75 pounds; lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance; occasionally bend, kneel, or crouch to reach equipment stored at ground level
- Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing duties; tolerate exposure to dust, vehicle fumes and noise
