Pay: £17.95 - £23.07 per hour
The OpportunityOur client is a growing, forward-thinking professional services business, based in Worcestershire. As the organisation continues to expand, they are seeking an experienced Finance & Payroll Manager to take ownership of payroll, VAT compliance and day-to-day financial operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on finance professional looking for a varied role with real autonomy and influence. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll play a key role in supporting the organisation's continued growth while helping to shape and improve finance processes.
Key Responsibilities Payroll- Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process.
- Administer PAYE, pension auto-enrolment and statutory payments.
- Ensure accurate RTI submissions and payroll compliance.
- Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD).
- Maintain compliance with HMRC regulations and reporting requirements.
- Act as the primary point of contact for HMRC.
- Handle correspondence, queries, submissions and compliance deadlines.
- Manage bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, invoicing and credit control using Xero.
- Oversee month‑end processes and financial administration.
- Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and efficiently within the accounting system.
- Produce management accounts and financial reports.
- Provide cash flow forecasting and business insights to support decision‑making.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate finance processes.
- Support the ongoing development and efficiency of the finance function.
- Proven experience using Xero is essential. You must be confident managing day-to-day finance activities, reconciliations, reporting and payroll-related processes within the system.
- 3-4 years' experience in a finance or accountancy role, ideally within a professional services environment.
- Strong payroll processing experience and a sound understanding of UK VAT requirements.
- Up-to-date knowledge of HMRC regulations and compliance obligations.
- Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns and managing payroll compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A professional and discreet approach when handling sensitive information.
- AAT qualification or part-qualified ACCA/CIMA status would be advantageous, although relevant experience is equally valued.
- Competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 pro rata
, depending on experience. - Flexible working pattern with the option to work 3, 4 or 5 days per week.
