JOB TITLE: Day Opportunities Support Worker (Adults)
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Flexible
RESPONSIBLE TO: Worcester Community Coordinator
SALARY: £12.60 per hour
HOURS: Variable Hour Contract | It is essential that candidates are willing to work on evenings and weekends.
WHERE: Worcestershire – Including Worcester City Centre and Surrounding Areas.
This role may involve travelling to different locations across Worcestershire to support adults with a learning disability and complex needs.

What does a Day Opportunities Support Worker (Adults) do?Midland Mencap is looking to appoint support workers who have a passion and dedication to providing high quality fun and safe experiences for adults. They will be able to follow a person‑centred approach when supporting our citizens to access activities and opportunities in the community. They will be able to take the lead for specific tasks as designated by the coordinator, undertake training and take responsibility for the adults that they are supporting and ensure that session logs and feedback are kept up to date.
They will ensure the safety and wellbeing of adults by proactively maintaining safeguarding principles and practises. They will also strive to maintain a safe, creative and stimulating environment for adult’s social, leisure and recreational activities.
They must be enthusiastic, be motivated and be able to support all adults and work well within their established community teams. They must have a willingness to try new things, alongside being able to adapt to the needs of Midland Mencap and the Day Opportunities Adult Service.
Key Tasks:- Attend staff meeting and supervisions with Worcester Community Coordinator on a planned basis to discuss and assess the progress of the service and your work.
- Be available to work a minimum of 3 shifts a month to support the needs of the Day Opportunities service and delivery.
- Support adults to participate in arts and crafts, games, sports, drama, music, & group outings in the community.
- Be aware and respond to health and safety issues.
- Follow financial and administrative procedures as directed by the Worcester Community Coordinator.
- Follow first aid procedures and keep records of all accidents, incidents and treatment given.
- Monitor and evaluate a citizen’s progress through observation and record keeping.
- Promote Midland Mencap to families and other agencies.
- Ensure that responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety legislation, and Midland Mencap’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
- Ensure appropriate professional boundaries with adults, parents and carers, staff and volunteers are maintained across the service.
- Be available to work flexible hours county-wide, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
- Adhere to and implement organisational policies and procedures.
- Attend training courses as required to develop knowledge and skills to improve the quality of service.
- Carry out any other tasks that are deemed appropriate within your job role and the aims of the organisation.

Experience of supporting adults with additional needs in a community setting, using a person‑centred approach.
Working as part of a team
Ability to motivate and encourage adults age 18-65+ with to participate in activities
Understanding of alternative methods of communication that could be used with non‑verbal adults
