About us
Abbey Medical Practice is a thriving GP practice in the heart of the market gardening town of Evesham with a diverse patient population of approximately 9600 patients. We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic team player to provide maternity cover (up to 1 year) for our treatment room nurses on a part/full‑time basis (30–37.5 hours per week).
Responsibilities- Provide wound care and dressing management, including compression bandaging and removal of sutures/clips.
- Administer immunisations and vaccinations (including travel and baby immunisations), venepuncture, and specimen collection.
- Conduct cervical screening and perform cervical cytology sampling.
- Carry out health education, lifestyle advice and general health screenings, including diet, blood pressure checks, urinalysis, and INR monitoring.
- Deliver routine injections, conduct ECGs, and aid in menstrual health services such as ring pessary fitting.
- Assist with chronic disease management, home visits and annual reviews, and learning disability reviews.
- Maintain accurate, legible patient records in the clinical system (Emis) and ensure timely completion of documentation and claims.
- Support administration of the practice team, including meetings, statistical reporting, and maintaining equipment and supplies.
- Assist in the management of the Minor Operations Room, including equipment maintenance and minor surgical procedures.
- Uphold infection prevention and control, hand hygiene, waste disposal, and health & safety standards.
- Adhere to confidentiality and data protection policies, maintaining the privacy of patient information.
- Promote equality, diversity, and non‑judgmental care for all patients, carers, and colleagues.
- Contribute to quality improvement, audit participation, and effective communication within the team and with patients.
- Attend team and practice meetings, cover extended hours where required, and provide training to new or existing staff when requested.
- Registered Nurse with current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC).
- Qualified in Child & Adult Immunisation, cervical screening, chronic disease management, and wound care management.
- Proven experience in general practice or primary care, with competence in treatment room procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding principles, and GP clinical systems.
