Recreation Therapist - Kahi Mohala

In this role, you’ll design, plan, and implement therapeutic recreation programs that support behavioral health services at The Queen’s Medical Center – Kahi Mohala. You’ll have the opportunity to create individualized treatment plans, conduct evaluations, lead therapeutic group activities, and assist with discharge planning—helping patients build skills and confidence for life beyond treatment.

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Therapeutic Recreation.
• Master’s degree in therapeutic recreation, or other healthcare science preferred.
• One (1) year experience as a recreation therapist or related work experience.
• Current BLS certification.
• Valid, active certification in good standing as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) from the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC) required. Specialization in Behavioral Health preferred.
• Must meet and maintain credentialing requirements with the State of Hawaii Child & Adolescent Mental Health Division (CAMHD).
• Valid U.S. driver's license required in accordance with Hawaii State law, rules and regulations.
• Driver's abstract or evidence of good driving record required.
• Course work in communications, group dynamics and fitness preferred.
• Experience working with individuals with psychiatric illness, demonstrating working knowledge of psychiatric disorders, mental illness treatment and recovery processes as it relates to recreation and leisure.
