Banquet Server

Company:
The Salvation Army – Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center (Kroc Center Hawaii).

Ewa Beach, HI.

Position Summary

The Banquet Server will be responsible primarily for food and beverage service, clearing tables, set up and clean‑up of all banquet functions, and for exceeding the expectations of all guests. The role requires a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army and a professional representation of the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center.

Required

Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Fluent or proficient in English.
  • At least one year of previous banquet or restaurant service experience.
Preferred

Education and Experience
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Extensive experience in food and beverage industry, specifically banquet service.
Essential Functions
  • Maintain a commitment to customer service and guest satisfaction.
  • Available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with event organizers, team members, and guests.
  • Serve food and beverage, respond to guests’ inquiries cordially, efficiently, and professionally.
  • Maintain consistent presentation and proper temperatures for all dining items.
  • Have knowledge of events, menu items, table settings, service ware, and correct preparation and garnishing methods.
  • Follow directions from Banquet Event Order (BEO) with strong attention to detail.
  • Report needed repairs or unsafe conditions to the supervisor.
  • Respond quickly to requests from guests, clients, supervisors or management.
  • Resolve and follow up on guest issues promptly and effectively.
  • Maintain supplies neatly and organized to standards.
  • Prepare event spaces by setting tables with tablecloths and place settings, setting up buffets, and removing all service items.
  • Carry large trays or multiple plates of hot food to serve guests.
  • Refill beverages as needed, remove each course of dinnerware, and replenish flatware as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness and wash hands frequently to avoid cross‑contamination.
  • Perform post‑event cleaning tasks and breakdown of service.
  • Adhere to professional grooming and uniform standards.
  • Follow and ensure adherence to The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
  • Maintain the Code of Ethics policy, which has been established for the Kroc Center Hawaii.
  • Attend staff meetings and other administrative meetings.
  • Maintain regular and punctual work attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The position requires sitting, climbing and/or balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching and/or crawling; continuous standing, continuous walking; manual dexterity and eye‑hand coordination; use of vision; continuous pushing/pulling/lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds without assistance, and occasionally up to 60 pounds with assistance.

The position requires talking to co‑workers, guests and vendors; written communication; telephone usage; responding to written or verbal requests; training and giving verbal and written instructions; receiving instructions; writing and composing; reading; visiting or working at other work sites; communicating via the latest technologies; interacting with co‑workers and the public in a positive, professional manner in accordance with The Salvation Army Mission Statement;
