A Security Guard with The Salvation Army is charged with maintaining a safe environment for all employees, clients, and visitors to the Kroc Center Hawaii. The position provides a visual security presence to ensure that members and guests have a safe and pleasant experience while visiting the Center. It also involves facility monitoring during hours of operation as well as when closed, and emergency response procedures as required.
The Security Guard will demonstrate a deep commitment to the mission of The Salvation Army, representing the Center in the community.
- Current valid State of Hawaii Guard Card
- High school diploma or equivalent
- One to two years of work experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience)
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, follow detailed procedures, and provide good customer service
- Provide a visual security presence by circulating among visitors, patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
- Conduct hourly rounds to monitor facility activity; report problems to Lead Security Guard; inspect stairwells, fire exits, mechanical rooms, fire extinguishers, and pull boxes.
- Under guidance of Facility Manager, ensure mechanical systems function properly, checking for standing water, fire hazards, pool pump area, etc.
- When staffing the security office, monitor alarm systems; sign in/out keys and audiovisual equipment; admit staff and visitors; sign out deliveries; answer security office telephone.
- Familiarize with and execute the Center’s Emergency Action Plan and evacuation procedures.
- Control crowds as required.
- After warning violators, apprehend or evict them from premises if necessary.
- Secure entrances at end of operating hours.
- Maintain a shift log.
- Follow The Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and maintain the Code of Ethics.
- Attend staff and administrative meetings.
- Maintain punctual attendance and work schedule.
- Monitor and adjust computerized lighting and timers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Able to prioritize and organize work assignments; complete projects from start to finish.

The position requires sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, manual dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, vision, driving a vehicle, and pushing/pulling/lifting 50‑75 pounds or occasionally more. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.
