Coordinator for Development and Government & Community Relations
Position Overview:
Residing in the Division of College Advancement, within the Office of Development, this position is responsible for a comprehensive fund‑raising and community relations program targeted toward, but not limited to, alumni, friends of the College, faculty, staff, retired employees, parents, corporations and foundations. In addition to fund‑raising initiatives, the Office of Development is responsible for an extensive events calendar and a highly‑detailed level of customer service for related activities throughout the campus.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer and Campaign Manager for Development this position provides administrative support for the Office of Development.
TCNJ is committed to making a positive difference in the community and seeks to work with local, county and state leaders to enhance the relationship between the campus and its surrounding community. This is primarily achieved through the initiatives of the Government and Community Relations team. Primary responsibilities include relationship building between the campus and external stakeholders. This position will provide support to advance those responsibilities as well as aid the Director of Community Relations in dealings with local officials and community groups.
ResponsibilitiesOffice of Development Responsibilities:
- Coordinator will organize and implement administrative systems and procedures to ensure CDO is supported efficiently and effectively
- Coordinator is responsible for answering phones, performing general office administrative duties, opening and sorting incoming mail (including checks), accurately recording all checks received, and then notifying gift officers when contributions are received from their assigned donors.
- Coordinator will oversee the development of comprehensive briefings that include biographical information and meeting logistics for the CDO.
- Coordinator will assist development staff, including Major Gift Officers, Annual Giving, and Corporate and Foundation Relations, with office needs as they arise.
- Coordinator oversees daily office operations to ensure effective communication and workflow; provides purchasing and procurement support for departmental needs; coordinates logistics for meetings, events, and special projects.
- Coordinator maintains and updates departmental databases and records; conducts research, prepares reports and briefings, and drafts, edits, and finalises correspondence and other materials; collects and maintains data to produce accurate electronic and paper reports using various software systems.
- Composes, proofreads, and edits correspondence, reports, and other written materials; ensures all communications reflect professionalism, accuracy, and consistency with institutional standards.
- Coordinator is responsible for answering phones, performing general office administrative duties, opening and sorting incoming mail.
- Coordinator oversees daily office operations to ensure effective communication and workflow; provides purchasing and procurement support for departmental needs; coordinates logistics for meetings, events, and special projects.
- Coordinator handles expenses, pays bills and reconciles departmental budgets.
- Coordinator assists in the coordination of external scheduling between the AVP, the Director and outside external stakeholders.
- Supports the planning committee for TCNJ’s annual Community Fest by facilitating between Ewing officials and TCNJ staff to plan, execute, and day‑of management of the College’s highly‑visible campus‑community event, which is attended by several thousand regional stakeholders.
- Assists with planning and day‑of logistics for high‑visibility public events on campus recommended by AVP and/or Director. Including any community event or Capital Campaign event as needed.
