Position Overview

The School of Engineering at The College of New Jersey, a leading public Primarily Undergraduate Institution (PUI), invites applications for a dynamic, part-time Entrepreneur in Residence (EIR) for the spring 2026 semester. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced entrepreneur to mentor the next generation of innovators and help shape our engineering programs. The EIR will serve as a practical, high-level resource for engineering students and faculty interested in technology commercialization, product development, and startup creation.

Responsibilities
  • Mentor Students:
Advise student teams on entrepreneurial ventures, business plan development, securing early-stage funding, and pitching to investors.
  • Support Faculty:
Collaborate with faculty on identifying commercial potential for research and developing effective teaching methods for innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Host Workshops:
Lead practical workshops and seminars on topics such as lean startup methodologies, intellectual property, and market analysis.
  • Connect to Industry: Act as a liaison to the regional and national entrepreneurial ecosystem, connecting students and faculty with key industry partners and potential investors.
Qualifications

Required: Significant, verifiable hands‑on experience as a founder, co‑founder, or early‑stage leader in a technology or engineering‑focused venture. A bachelor's degree in engineering or science is strongly preferred.

Preferred: Experience in technology transfer, successful funding rounds (seed, Series A), and prior mentorship/advisory roles.

Persons with disabilities may request reasonable accommodations in order to perform the essential functions of the position. If the requested accommodation(s) cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship, the applicant may not be eligible for the position.

Employment at TCNJ is contingent upon the successful completion of an applicable background check, reference checks, and verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States (Form I-9).

Accommodation:
Applicants who require a reasonable accommodation to apply or interview should contact hr.

How to Apply
