The Department of Biology seeks a Student Worker to support the Genetics Laboratory.
Responsibilities- Prepare fruit fly media
- Maintain and expand fruit fly colonies
- Wash and sterilize vials and stoppers
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in the prep lab
- Assist with set-up and maintenance of the Genetics lab as needed
- Learn how to follow basic lab protocols
Maintain a consistent work schedule; hours must be worked on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All hours must be worked sometime between 8 am and 5 pm on those days. Hours can be worked in 2 hour blocks if the student needs to leave for a class or lab.
Preferred Qualifications- Lab experience preferred but not required
- Exhibit responsibility, independence, and self-motivation
- Must be dependable, as some weeks are very demanding
