The College of New Jersey’s Pre-College Summer Program (PCSP) is seeking energetic and dedicated Residential Support Specialists for Summer 2026. PCSP is a 10‑day, 9‑night inclusive residential experience designed for New Jersey high school students (ages 16–21) with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Participants live and learn on campus while engaging in academic, social, and career‑focused experiences that prepare them for college life, employment, and greater independence.
Residential Support Specialists live on campus and play a crucial role in fostering community, inclusion, and safety in the residence halls. They serve as mentors, role models, and facilitators, helping students navigate college life and build independence.
Please note: This program is supported through federal funding. Program continuation and all associated staff positions are contingent upon the availability of these funds. In the event that funding is reduced or withdrawn, positions may be modified or rescinded.
Responsibilities- Supervise and support participants in the residence halls, dining facilities, and campus activities.
- Facilitate daily living routines and promote independence in personal care and community engagement.
- Organize and lead social and recreational programming to enhance campus community life.
- Ensure the physical and emotional well‑being of participants, maintaining a positive, inclusive environment.
- Collaborate closely with academic and program staff to provide consistent student support.
- Assist in the coordination of evening activities, safety checks, and incident response when needed.
- Experience working or volunteering with youth or individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills.
- Enthusiasm for mentoring and supporting students in an inclusive residential setting.
- Experience in student leadership, residence life, or summer program supervision is a plus.
