Margate Health & Rehabilitation located in beautiful Jefferson, North Carolina is seeking a Staff Development Coordinator/Infection Preventionist to join our compassionate team of caregivers. The candidate must have an unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina. This role involves planning, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating staff development education and conducts new hire orientation in accordance with state and federal regulations.
This role oversees the Infection Prevention program. Ideal candidate will have Statewide Program for Infection Control and Epidemiology (SPICE) or the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) certification or be able to obtain certification within 3 months of hire.

- Provides orientation for all new employees, inclusive of policies, procedures, and philosophy of care.
- Provides hands-on clinical orientation and instruction to licensed and unlicensed personnel.
- Coordinates all new employee general and specific jobs training prior to assuming job duties.
- Assesses resident needs in relation to staff abilities and designs training programs based on the needs assessment.
- Assures clinical competency of nursing staff through skill evaluation.
- Assures educational curriculum offered in the facility complies with state, federal, and accreditation requirements.
- Coordinates basic supervisory skill training for department managers and charge nurses.
- Coordinates continuing education programs.
- Provides resident/family education/teaching resources as required.
- Plans, implements, and coordinates state and federally required in-service programs designed to develop and improve the skills of all facility personnel.
- Coordinates immunization program for employees and residents.
- Maintains records as required by facility, state, and federal agencies.
- Monitor the professional nurses licensing status, and Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) listings to ensure that they remain current.
- Assists in coordinating quality assurance activities for the nursing department.
- Must be flexible to work various time to ensure all shifts receive required education.
- Tracking and reporting facility infection rates and antibiotic stewardship.
