Landscape Technician

Brief Overview: A Landscape Technician performs services such as lawn mowing, clean-ups, mulching, trimming, landscape maintenance, pruning, trimming, fertilization, weed control, planting of trees and shrubs, flower installation, leaf clean-ups, and similar tasks. Our Landscape Technicians work under a crew leader in a crew of up to 8 persons.

• Perform landscape maintenance and installation tasks including mowing, clean-ups, mulching, pruning, trimming, fertilization, weed control, planting trees and shrubs, flower installation, and leaf clean-ups.
• Work under a crew leader in a crew of up to 8 persons and coordinate with team members.
• Drive company vehicles as directed where applicable.
• Operate equipment and machinery used in landscape work.
• Assist with winter season operations as needed, including snow plowing, shoveling, de-icing, and pre/post-storm activities.
• Perform other tasks related to landscape management as assigned.

• Minimum two-year apprenticeship in one or more of the following sub-categories:
  • Professional landscape maintenance operations
  • Professional landscape construction services
  • Landscape repairs, restoration, and remediation
  • Licensed arbor care and tree trimming services
  • Landscape irrigation repairs and maintenance
• Perform other assigned tasks related to landscape management.
• Winter Season Operations: plow snow with trucks or loaders; shovel snow; apply salt and de-icing agents; assist with pre-storm preparedness and post-storm cleanup.

• Client Management:
  Represent East Coast Facilities, Inc. professionally at all times; recognize when to involve the Crew Leader; keep the Crew Leader informed of client concerns; maintain a positive, responsive attitude toward clients.
• Safety Management:
  Maintain safe working conditions; follow company procedures on discipline if any safety rules are broken; strive for zero preventable accidents.
• Image Compliance:
  Maintain clean, neat, and professional image through approved East Coast Facilities uniforms and by monitoring appropriate employee actions.
• Equipment Management:
  Be accountable for neglect and abuse of assigned equipment.

• Minimum two-year apprenticeship in one or more of the listed job sub-categories.
• Can pass drug test.
• Can pass a criminal background check.
• Comply with business ethics, applicable laws, and regulations.
• Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.

• Work near direct automotive traffic and near natural bodies of water.
• Work around various types of lifts.
• Able to work overtime or extended shifts if required by management.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures (0 to 95 degrees Fahrenheit) and in direct sunlight for extended periods.
• Ability to work in extreme cold or wintry precipitation.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to bend, stoop, and twist continuously throughout the day.

Each job category has a range of pay associated with it. Hiring managers have corporate guidance on assigning the appropriate rate of pay based on factors including:

• Your knowledge and ability to operate equipment classes
• Licenses or certifications (e.g., CDL, Pesticide Applicators License, Tree Trimming License, ISA Arborist Certification, Lift Certification, etc.)
• References from direct supervisors
• Ability to rate-match a recruited team member from a competitor
