Exeter High School Administrative Assistant – Commons (190 Days)
Exeter High School is looking for an individual to join our administrative assistant team, responsible for a variety of needs, supporting students, families and staff in the student Commons area. Under the direct supervision of the principal, the candidate will provide clerical, secretarial and administrative assistance to school administration at the site, conveying information regarding school functions and procedures, and supporting the broad array of services provided to students, parents, and staff.
EssentialFunctions
- Prepares, copies and distributes notices, memoranda or other correspondence to inform school employees about activities, events or other work‑related matters.
- Registers/enrolls new students and families, and provides information to all families regarding Swasey practices.
- Assists in planning and scheduling school events and activities, and maintains the calendar of school and student events for coordination (e.g., orientation, open house, field trips, sporting events, assemblies, conferences).
- Maintains documents, files and records to provide up‑to‑date reference and audit trail for compliance.
- Checks in visitors to the office, including students, parents, substitute teachers, and other visitors.
- Answers telephone calls and provides information and assistance to callers.
- Responds to inquiries from students, parents and employees, providing information, facilitating communication among parties, and/or providing direction.
- Oversees and manages the use of the building during and after school hours.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the school.

Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Ability to describe problems and work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
- Ability to understand, apply, and use personal computers and software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, the Internet, Outlook, electronic mail).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Organizational and time‑management skills.
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying.
Typical Qualifications- Graduation from high school.
- Successful experience with school/office management preferred.
- Proficiency in Google Drive/Docs, Word, Excel, ALMA, Pick Up Patrol.
