Medical Laboratory Scientist – Per Diem

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 1‑3 years directly related experience
- ASCP, AMT, HEW or eligible certification; must obtain within 1 year of DOH
- Knowledge of Microbiology
- Perform qualitative and quantitative tests and examinations using automated instrumentation or manual methods, following established procedures.
- Implement quality assurance procedures, including quality control testing, instrument function checks, and calibrations; document and resolve deviations.
- Assess accuracy and validity of results by applying scientific principles; identify critical changes affecting patient care and determine causes for atypical findings.
- Maintain comprehensive records of tests, examinations, and final results for all patient‑care inquiries.
- Troubleshoot instruments, document corrective actions, and report problems to the department supervisor or manager.
- Assist in instructing students and laboratory personnel on diagnostic test principles and techniques.
- Perform phlebotomy according to established protocols.
- Assist with order entry and specimen receipt; provide customer service to all laboratory customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
