CNC Machinist - 3rd Shift (25% Shift Differential & 4 Hour Premium!)
C/A Design, Inc. is part of the Heico Companies. Our new 120k sf state‑of‑the‑art facility in Exeter, New Hampshire is fully operational and excels in high‑precision manufacturing. The CNC Machinist will produce complex aluminum parts for the Aerospace and Defense industry.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Strive toward a culture of proactive safety.
- Execute start‑to‑finish machine set‑up and first‑piece inspection to achieve first‑piece acceptance within required time constraints.
- Operate CNC milling machines and perform in‑process inspection on production jobs.
- Work from drawings, blueprints, job layouts or other written specifications to determine feeds, speeds, tooling and operational sequences.
- Set up and inspect first‑article parts on any proven program and turn them in for QA verification at an 80% approval rate.
- Change cutting tools and work‑piece locations during machining.
- Install cutting tools and various work‑holding devices for the stock size to be machined.
- Operate and adjust machines until parts conform to specifications and time standards.
- Make necessary adjustments to set‑ups during operations to maintain accurate production.
- Ensure completeness of secondary set‑ups.
- Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions.
- Detect and report significant variances in job standards.
- Upon completion of first‑article verification, train and monitor operators assigned to that machine.
- Run multiple CNC machines.
- Perform secondary operations as defined by travelers, using machines/tools such as files, drill presses and sanders.
- Assist operators on which dimensions to inspect, using proper tools and gauges.
- Ensure part quality before forwarding them to the next operation/process.
- Maintain cleanliness of own work area and general housekeeping of the company.
- Minimum 5 years CNC setup experience.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Mandatory 4th‑axis machining experience.
- Experience with prototyping and first‑piece development with programs is a plus.
- Capable of running and setting up all CNC machines in the department.
- Understands and can modify basic CNC programs.
- Able to make basic fixtures and jigs.
- Proficient with micrometers, calipers, height gauges and dial indicators.
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints.
