The part-time Wellness Center Attendant will assist and motivate members of the Exeter Area YMCA to ensure a safe, enjoyable, and positive environment that promotes member wellness and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.

Position SummaryThis position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Wellness Center Attendant is responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, enjoyable wellness experience for members.
Essential Functions- Provide exceptional customer service.
- Clean and adjust equipment on the wellness floor.
- Maintain cleanliness of Wellness floor; cleaning machines, picking up weights left on floor, water bottles, refilling wipes and toilet paper dispensers.
- Conduct tours for potential new members.
- Conduct new member wellness screenings, exercise prescriptions and orientations.
- Circulate through the Wellness Center to maintain a friendly, open and helpful relationship with all members.
- Look for any potential hazards or problems in the Wellness Center operations.
- Promote member programs and services.
- Support member retention through all programs and services.
- Stay current on fitness concepts and ideas.
- Respond to emergencies as necessary.
- Assist with walkway snow removal and de-icing in the winter months as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
- Attend required abuse risk management training.
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high‑risk activities and supervising consumers.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 1 year previous fitness related experience preferred.
- Ability to connect with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of fitness equipment and proper use.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to multi‑task.
- Ability to work as part of a team for the success of the department.
- Must be able to complete YMCA required training as scheduled by management.
- Must maintain updated certifications of the job (CPR and First Aid/AED).
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
- Ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations.
- Scheduling flexibility.
- Ability to remain alert for several hours at a time.
- Ability to walk, stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to bend, kneel, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate needs.
