Overview
We are seeking an experienced professional and friendly GP Prescription Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in processing a high volume of prescription requests, be the first point of contact for all prescription related queries at the practice, and have excellent communication skills.
Main duties- To be responsible and accountable for all Prescription related Admin workload
- To support the smooth running of the Practice by providing an efficient and effective administrative service to the GPs and their patients.
- To facilitate effective communication between patients, members of the Practice team, community services, secondary care and other associated healthcare agencies.
- Processing repeats prescriptions in accordance with Practice guidelines.
- Be first point of contact for prescription queries from reception or admin team
- Processing Practices monthly return to Prescription Pricing Department.
- Champion the use of digital channels and promote the NHS app
- Communicate and work closely with the PCN Pharmacy team
- First point of contact for all Prescription queries from Patients and Reception team
- Synchronise, start and stop medication as per practice protocols
- Link Medications to QOF and LTC reviews
- Provide ongoing training and support to the reception team via the daily huddle and practice meetings
- Update team on meds out of stock/ common troubleshooting and pitfalls
- Attend the Monthly Practice pharmacy meeting
- Meet with the PCN pharmacy team weekly
- Good knowledge of medications
- Source of support for all staff at the practice
- Aim to reduce prescription queries from patients and streamline systems to support this

Reception
- To support the reception team by providing sickness and holiday cover for colleagues as required.
Admin all staff
- Maintaining a courteous, efficient, and confidential service to all patients and visitors both over the telephone and in person. Dealing with all enquiries and requests, acting as appropriate
- Ensuring appropriate handover to incoming colleagues, including any urgent or unresolved matters
- Provision of refreshments for staff and visitors, as required. Keeping the kitchen area clean and tidy.
- Computer data entry - processing and recording information in accordance with Practice guidelines
- Filing and retrieving paperwork, as required.
- Complete Reception tasks
- Contribute towards the Daily Huddle
- Complete a Handover to AM when Leaving the business each day
- Identify and train admin cover for lead area where needed
Admin individual staff
- In addition to the above individual members of the Practice administration team will take responsibility for a Lead. These may vary under the direction of the AM dependent on current and evolving Practice requirements, workload and staffing availability.
