Student Employment Support Officer (Access to Internships)

This part-time post (0.56 FTE/20.5 hours) is available from immediately on a fixed-term basis until July 2027. Applications for secondments will be considered subject to agreement from your current line manager.

Job SummaryThe Student Employability and Academic Success Team have a part-time, fixed-term opportunity for a highly organised individual looking to gain quality administrative and project management experience. You will work with a range of stakeholders including students and employers to provide an exceptional service while meeting the core aims of the university's Success for All initiative. You will need to be confident using Excel and communicating with others to provide essential updates.
In return, you will gain experience working with budgets, bespoke software, databases, and a range of people working on an initiative that aims to improve employability outcomes for underrepresented groups of students.
You will play a key part in the successful delivery of the 'Access to Internships' (A2i) funding arm of the Internships team. This will involve administration of the service, guiding students through the application process, checking that applications fully meet eligibility criteria and working with employers and internal staff to set up internships and administer funding. You will build effective relationships with stakeholders which support and contribute to the delivery of the service, including employers, students, graduates, and funding bodies.
You will need to have an excellent level of attention to detail to process finance requests using the University's finance system and maintain records using Excel.

Attainments/Qualifications- Educated to A level, Level 3 Apprenticeship, or equivalent (E)
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and email, and by telephone with a diverse range of people (E)
- Excellent IT skills including proficiency in MS office, especially, Excel with the ability to interrogate and manipulate data (E)
- Recent, relevant administrative experience (E)
- Experience in handling complex processes, tracking progress and reporting on outcomes (E)
- Effectively handling complex enquiries (E)
- Working independently, including experience in prioritising and meeting deadlines under pressure (E)
- Knowledge of Higher Education and the Graduate Labour Market (D)
- An understanding of social-economic equalities in higher education (D)
- Working within an HE environment (D)
- Identifying areas for process improvement, making recommendations, and successfully implementing change (D) Behavioural Characteristics Excellent attention to detail and ability to provide accurate information
- Ability to always present a professional image
- Ability to obtain cooperation by developing excellent working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
