Interim Procurement Lead
£250-£300 per day (inside IR35, PAYE)
Hybrid - Remote with occasional travel to Devon

Butler Rose is delighted to be supporting a highly respected organisation in the recruitment of an Interim Procurement Lead. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to join a purpose‑driven organisation undergoing positive development and transformation.
This is a hybrid role offering significant flexibility, with only occasional site visits required in Devon.
The RoleAs Interim Procurement Lead, you will play a key role in driving the organisation's procurement strategy and ensuring best‑in‑class sourcing activity across a diverse portfolio. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will lead both strategic and operational procurement initiatives, providing expertise on sourcing, category management, supplier relationships and commercial opportunity development.
You will oversee the delivery of procurement strategies within your assigned business area, ensuring continuity of supply, value for money, robust governance, and alignment with the organisation's ethical and sustainability ambitions.
This role also provides the opportunity to deputise for the Head of Procurement where required.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the development and implementation of procurement and category strategies.
- Analyse spend, markets and emerging trends to identify risks, opportunities and supply chain improvements.
- Manage the full end‑to‑end procurement cycle, from pre‑market engagement through to contract award.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure best value and build long‑term, ethical, and sustainable partnerships.
- Implement and manage supplier agreements, contracts and performance frameworks.
- Develop strong internal stakeholder relationships across the organisation.
- Provide effective leadership to team members, supporting their development and well being.
- Contribute to procurement policy development and support change initiatives across the function.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting and management information.
- Full CIPS membership or equivalent experience.
- Strong experience in strategic procurement, category management and sourcing.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to influence stakeholders and manage complex supply chains.
- Knowledge of supplier contract law and negotiation principles.
- Demonstrable experience managing procurement strategies that incorporate ethical and sustainable considerations.
- Strong negotiation, relationship management and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously in a fast‑moving, evolving environment.
- Experience in large, complex, or international organisations.
- Experience with in a change/transformation environment.
- Previous category experience relevant to this role.
- Previous line management responsibility.
- Contract length: Until December 2026
- Working pattern: 35 hours per week with flexible working required at times
- Location: Primarily remote with occasional travel to Devon
