Quantity Surveyor - Civil Engineering, Groundworks - Somerset
£60,000 - £70,000

Our client is a growing groundwork contractor based in Somerset, focused on regional & national house building companies, due to project expansions and new contracts they're seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor specialising in Groundworks, Civils to join the dynamic commercial team.

The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs, ensuring that financial aspects of projects are meticulously planned and controlled. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control methods and the ability to communicate effectively.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads
  • Monitor project expenditures and implement cost control measures to maintain budgetary compliance
  • Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of proposed projects from a financial perspective
  • Collaborate with engineers, and contractors to ensure accurate pricing and timely delivery of materials
  • Prepare tender documents and assist in the evaluation of bids from contractors
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to projects, including applications and payments
  • Provide regular reports on project costs and forecasts to management
  • Assist in resolving any disputes related to costs or contracts during the project execution phase
Experience
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the house building sector is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of cost control principles and practices
  • Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Proficient in using quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
