The weather is not only the nation's favourite conversation topic, it's also a vital and hugely successful BBC service which brings in audiences in their millions to us every week. The BBC and the Met Office are coming together in a groundbreaking partnership to deliver a new and exciting weather offer for our audiences. This is an opportunity to play a significant role in shaping the first stages of that.
This is a 12-month role based at the Met Office HQ in Exeter working directly with our partners, building our relationship and creating content which showcases the value of the nation's forecaster and the nation's broadcaster coming together.
- Creating Partnership weather content with the Met Office focused on digital content areas: vertical video, social, online text.
- Working independently and collaboratively with Met Office partner to develop effective relationships which deliver first‑class weather content.
- Excellent editorial judgement, knowledge of BBC compliance procedures, and BBC Editorial Policy.
- Demonstrable understanding of meteorology and related subject areas.
- Digital platform reporting and presenting experience in recorded and live environments to deadline.
- First‑class writing skills, proven ability to develop original, creative story treatments, and production experience for digital platforms.
- Good knowledge of audience analytics and measurement tools.
- Demonstrable experience of working collaboratively with a variety of teams as well as independently in a multi‑disciplinary and Agile environment.
- Experience of working with external partnerships.
- Video editing skills.
The role will require shift work and weekend working.
Proposed Salary Range: £41,200‑£51,200 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
