Trust Doctor in Oncology (ST3 - ST5 Equivalent)Closing date is 01 July 2026
Applicants are invited to apply for two Trust Doctor (ST3-ST5 level) posts in Oncology, based at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. Both posts are available for a fixed duration of 12 months and will allow the successful candidates to develop experience in acute oncology and palliative care by working across inpatient, day case, outpatient and Acute Oncology services.
The posts will be worked during office‑hours Monday to Friday, with a requirement to join the evening (5–7 pm, 1 in
8) and weekend rota (9‑5 Saturday or Sunday, approximately 1 in
7).

Applicants will be expected to be fully registered with the General Medical Council. The applicant will be expected to have previous experience in general medicine. The post holder should have experience in general medicine and be able to manage common medical and oncological emergencies.
In‑patient oncology service provision takes place on Yeo ward, a 23‑beded unit taking direct admissions of acutely unwell oncology patients from home, as well as patients admitted electively for treatment. Our day case unit is located on Cherrybrook where patients receive systemic anti‑cancer treatment and Yarty Day Case which provides initial assessment from our Acute Oncology team.
The Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital, Wonford, is the largest employer in the city of Exeter, serving the acute healthcare needs of a diverse community. The RD&E provides acute hospital services to around 350,000 people in Exeter, East Devon and Mid Devon and offers specialist services such as cancer care, plastic and reconstructive surgery, orthopaedic surgery, paediatric care and renal services to people further afield in Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, Somerset and Dorset.
