Exeter, Devon
£20-£30 per hour | Flexible | Term-Time

Quantum Scholars is recruiting multiple Learning Mentors to support young people with EOTAS (Educated Otherwise Than At School) arrangements in Exeter and the surrounding area.

These roles involve working 1:1 with children and young people who are currently outside of mainstream education, delivering structured mentoring sessions that support engagement, wellbeing and personal development as part of their bespoke education package.

About the Role

You will work directly with young people who may present with SEND (including ASD, ADHD and communication needs), SEMH needs, emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), trauma-related behaviours, anxiety or low confidence.

Your sessions will focus on building trust and positive relationships, developing emotional regulation strategies, supporting life skills and independence, re‑engaging young people with education, and encouraging aspiration and positive routines.

Sessions may take place in the young person's home, in community settings such as libraries or outdoor spaces, in agreed local venues, and occasionally online.

All delivery is agreed with the Local Authority and aligned to EHCP outcomes where applicable.

We Are Looking For People Who
  • Have experience working with vulnerable or disengaged young people
  • Can build rapport quickly and maintain professional boundaries
  • Are calm, consistent and emotionally intelligent
  • Can structure purposeful sessions
  • Understand safeguarding responsibilities

Desirable backgrounds include youth work, education support, social care, coaching or mentoring, alternative provision or EOTAS experience, and trauma-informed or restorative practice.

Essential Requirements
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Safeguarding training (Level 2 minimum or willingness to complete)
  • Right to work in the UK – Your application will be auto‑deleted if you do not have this.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain clear session records
  • Reliable access to travel within Exeter and surrounding areas
Pay & Flexibility
  • £20-£30 per hour depending on experience
  • Flexible hours
  • Term‑time delivery
  • Opportunity for ongoing work
