Lecturer in Mathematics, University of Exeter. The above full time, permanent post is available from 1 January 2020.
Role summaryYou will contribute to extending the research profile of Mathematics at Exeter, particularly in areas related or complementary to Geophysical and Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics and Atmosphere-Ocean Dynamics. You will have knowledge and experience in the theory and/or numerical modelling of the large scale circulation of Earth and other planets, and will be able to advance and communicate knowledge in those fields.
The post will involve conducting state-of-the-art research in the circulation of planetary atmospheres and/or oceans, with particular but not exclusive reference to Earth. The post will require working in a multidisciplinary research environment, active development of research funding proposals, teaching at the undergraduate level and supervision of postgraduate students. The successful candidate will contribute to the growth and excellence of the Centre for Geophysical and Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics.
Responsibilities- Conduct state-of-the-art research in the circulation of planetary atmospheres and/or oceans, with particular but not exclusive reference to Earth.
- Work in a multidisciplinary research environment.
- Develop research funding proposals.
- Teach at the undergraduate level and supervise postgraduate students.
- Contribute to the growth and excellence of the Centre for Geophysical and Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics.
- Knowledge and experience in the theory and/or numerical modelling of the large-scale circulation of Earth and other planets.
- Ability to advance and communicate knowledge in the fields of geophysical and astrophysical fluid dynamics, with a focus on planetary atmospheres and/or oceans.
- Demonstrated capability to work in a multidisciplinary research environment and to engage in research funding activities.
