Salary: NJC Grade C: £25,989 - £26,403 FTE (This will be paid pro‑rata to reflect hours and weeks worked)
Working Pattern:
This is a permanent position working 18 hours per week, 39 weeks per year until Monday, Thursday, Friday.
The Duchy School are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join our school team. We require an individual who is enthusiastic, conscientious, self‑motivated and would like to provide a key role in enabling access to learning for our pupils. This role will involve working closely with teachers and other colleagues to support a range of pupils, including those with recognised special educational needs.
It is a highly rewarding position within a supportive team, where you can gain new skills and make a real difference to the education of our children.
Working under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, you will support learning in both the classroom and small‑group settings.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting pupils’ welfare and personal care, including those with SEND
- Implementing literacy and numeracy interventions
- Assisting with planning cycles and preparing learning resources
- Promoting positive behaviour and encouraging pupil independence
- Assisting with supervision during break/lunch times and accompanying pupils on trips when required
We are looking for someone who can bring compassion and commitment to the role.
Essential Qualities- Experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age
- Knowledge of safeguarding practice and strategies to remove barriers to learning
- Strong communication skills, including confidence and fluency in spoken English
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to relate well to both children and adults
- Experience supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Knowledge of SEN practices and the national curriculum
- Additional training in learning strategies such as literacy or numeracy
- NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent
