Job Description

Under the direction of the Head of Provision, Lead Teacher and Pastoral Lead, to take responsibility for the day-to-day support, training, and line management of the LM’s on each base/Provision you are supporting. You will work alongside teachers/Lead Teachers/Pastoral Leads/Heads of Provision to ensure all pupils receive an outstanding educational offer. This responsibility will entail overseeing the performance of LMs both academically and pastorally through the CORE 6 CPD Programme and the performance management of staff.

You will develop the range of LM support across the provision and work in collaboration with the Pastoral leads and Lead Teacher to contribute to the ongoing CPD of all support staff. You will link with several other agencies, parents, and stakeholders to ensure that safeguarding and outcomes for pupils are outstanding and to work with your manager to ensure that deadlines are met, resources are managed efficiently and that the provision fully contributes to the school development plan.

The role will also entail holding meetings with families and other professionals; updating daily recording and reporting systems using IT. Additionally, the role involves maintaining good working relationships with the parents/carers of pupils in your provision through daily phone contact, attendance scrutiny and multi-agency meetings. Furthermore, you will provide educational support to pupils at one of our bases. The education model is based around working with the Lead Teacher.

Together you will manage a team of Mentors commissioned either to work one to one for each individual pupil due to their high needs or supporting groups of pupils.

You will be focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for your pupils in terms of academic progress and in personal development.

Responsibilities
  • To support a provision so that pastoral support, safeguarding and SEMH/SEN development are all outstanding.
  • Ensuring that pupils and staff are Ready, Respectful and Safe.
  • Ensuring that school policies are implemented within the base.
  • Ensuring that LM’s support is effective both in terms of staff performance and the academic standards reached.
  • Support the PL/LT with base SEF plans linked to LM development and CPD.
  • Assisting in the appointment/Interview of staff as required.
  • To support with transition work of new pupils into ACE and those leaving.
  • To support the PL/PM at the base with EHAT’s and other relevant multi agency meetings/paperwork.
  • Provide 1‑1 and group cover for pupils when needed.
  • Support the area SENCO with paperwork and attended meetings as needed.
  • In consultation with your manager and LT, undertake other identified areas of responsibility as necessary to ensure effective delivery of the school’s specialist curriculum strand.
  • Model positive management of behaviour in an environment of mutual respect which allows students to feel Ready, Respectful and Safe, promotes their self‑esteem and maintains/establishes good order and discipline among the pupils to safeguard the health and safety of all.
  • Communicate and consult with the parents/carers of pupils and other agencies.
  • To support tutors in the completion of registers and action follow ups on non‑attendance linking with the PL and EWO where needed.
  • Ensure that safeguarding procedures are robust and that good attendance is promoted.
