SEN Teaching Assistant ) Exeter, England
We are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school on the outskirts of Exeter. The school has a nurturing approach to learning and requires a dedicated and empathetic individual to work with secondary age students who have moderate learning needs.
The successful candidate will work on a 1‑1 or small group basis with students who have communication and interaction needs such as ASD and ADHD who learn at primary level. You will be responsible for supporting students with their academic and emotional needs, ensuring they have access to a safe and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting secondary age students with SEMH and MLD on a 1‑1 or small group basis
- Providing emotional and academic support to students
- Developing and delivering targeted interventions to meet individual needs
- Liaising with teachers and other professionals to ensure effective communication and collaboration
- Maintaining accurate records of student progress and achievement
Requirements:
- Experience of working with secondary age students with SEMH, ASD or MLD, preferably in a specialist setting
- A resilient and compassionate approach to supporting students with challenging behaviour
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload
