The Role
Graduate Research Assistant

This part-time (0.4 FTE) post is offered as a fixed term contract and is funded by Medical Research Council from 5th October 2026till 30th September 2027. In line with the University’s fair employment for all principles, any further funding opportunities identified will be reviewed and discussed during the contract.

Salary will be £33,951 (pro rata) on Grade E subject to knowledge, skills and experience.

The Role

Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

The Faculty wishes to recruit a Graduate Research Associate to support the work of Professor Gemma Sharp. The successful applicant will contribute to the Menstru Life study, which is exploring associations between heavy and painful menstrual periods and mental health across the life course.

The post will include helping to prepare analysis plans, running analyses in R, interpreting results, and writing academic papers.

About You

The successful applicant will be able to present information on research progress and outcomes, communicate complex information, orally, in writing and electronically and prepare proposals and applications to external bodies.

Applicants will be educated to first degree level or possess an equivalent qualification/experience in a related field of study or equivalent experience and be able to demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the discipline and of research methods and techniques to work within established research programmes. Applicants will be able to use R to design and run statistical analyses relevant to epidemiological and psychological research, interpret results, and write academic papers.
