Trainee Teacher, SEN

This trainee teacher post with Exeter and North Devon Colleges Group sits in the SEN and high needs provision and teaches post-16 students in small groups. The core work is building their confidence, independence and employability, including engaging those who have struggled before. Training runs alongside the job, with a dedicated mentor, a reduced timetable and a Level 3 Teaching Award in year one before a Cert Ed.

No teaching qualification is needed, but visa sponsorship is not available.

• Delivering small group sessions to post-16 students with high needs
• Engaging students who may have struggled with confidence in the past
• Supporting students to develop independence, communication and employability skills
• Creating a positive, inclusive and inspiring classroom environment

• Graduate with a sound academic track record, or experience below

• Experience supporting young people to find confidence, independence and work, in place of a graduate record

• Enthusiasm, resilience and a passion for supporting young people with high needs
• Confident communicator who enjoys working with young people with high needs

• Enhanced DBS check
