Mechanical Technician

Astute's EPC Power team is partnering with a leading Operator in the Power Industry to recruit a Mechanical Technician on an initial 3 months contract basis for it's Operational Energy from Waste plant in Exeter.

The Mechanical Technician contract position comes with a day rate from £400.00 to £450.00 per day inside of IR35.

Key skills and responsibilities:

Carry out planned and reactive mechanical maintenance across the Energy from Waste plant to maintain safe and reliable operation.
Complete routine inspections, fault finding and repairs on pumps, valves, conveyors, gearboxes, fans, compressors and associated mechanical equipment.
Undertake mechanical fitting activities including removal, overhaul, replacement and alignment of plant equipment and components.
Support maintenance and repairs across boiler systems, steam/water systems, fuel handling and ash handling equipment.
Complete preventative maintenance activities in line with the site's CMMS / maintenance schedules.
Assist with plant outages, shutdowns and planned maintenance periods, including equipment isolation and return to service.
Identify mechanical defects during plant inspections and report/escalate issues before they impact plant availability.
Work safely under the site's Permit to Work, isolation and LOTO procedures.
Use hand tools, power tools and mechanical measuring equipment safely and competently.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, job sheets and information relating to completed works.
Work closely with Operations, Electrical and C&I teams to support fault diagnosis and plant availability.
Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, housekeeping and environmental compliance across all maintenance activities.

£400.00 to £450.00 per day (Inside IR35)
