We're working with a leading engineering consultancy to find an experienced Associate Mechanical Engineer to join their growing Exeter team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior‑level engineer looking to lead projects, influence design strategy, and mentor a high‑performing team across a wide range of sectors.

You’ll be involved in delivering innovative mechanical solutions across commercial, residential, education, healthcare, heritage, and mixed‑use developments
.

• Leading client meetings, design workshops, and project coordination
• Developing early‑stage mechanical and building services concepts
• Overseeing technical delivery, including designs, calculations, reports, and specifications
• Mentoring and supporting junior engineers
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, sustainability, digital, fire, acoustics)
• Managing project budgets, resources, and commercial performance
• Supporting business development and client relationship management
• Driving innovation and continuous improvement in design processes

• Strong background in mechanical building services engineering
• Proven experience delivering projects in a consultancy environment
• Expertise in HVAC systems (heating, ventilation, cooling, air‑conditioning)
• Experience working in multi‑disciplinary teams
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and design software
• Solid understanding of UK regulations and industry standards
• Strong communication and client‑facing skills
• Commercial awareness and ability to deliver profitable projects
