Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic and growing Building Services (MEP) team in Plymouth

Our Plymouth office offers a dynamic base for delivering transformative projects across the UK and beyond. Highlights include work on large‑scale energy transmission projects, housing complex conversion equipment for new high‑voltage direct current converter stations, refurbishment and new‑build extension of the Civic Centre in Trowbridge, and the Atlantic Village extension in Bideford.

As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer
, you will support multidisciplinary (MEP) engineering projects from start to finish, positively engaging with the client and helping them achieve their goals. You will lead all aspects of the project, including project team, deliverables, resourcing, programme and budget, to deliver high‑quality outputs.

You will develop and oversee mechanical concepts and design solutions, manage a project team to deliver detailed design to required standards, and produce required design calculations. You will champion an inclusive, supportive culture that works closely and collaboratively, both internally and with external design teams. Communication and ownership are key to our team’s success and happiness.

• Proven experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer in the UK, ideally with a track record of delivering both Mechanical and M&E solutions across varied building sectors.
• Developing and mentoring junior engineers, including supporting chartership routes.
• Contributing to innovation, process improvement, and technical excellence initiatives.
• Assisting with aspects of team management, supporting our MEP lead in activities such as resource planning, line management, and quality assurance.

• A relevant qualification (HNC, HND, Bachelor’s, or Master’s).
• A proven background in Building Services design.
• A track record working across sectors including healthcare, education, commercial, residential, and/or industrial.
• Proficiency with BIM processes, including Revit and IED/Amtech.
