Role Overview

You will join an experienced team specialising predominantly on wastewater and clean water projects, infrastructure, or non‑infrastructure. The role is based in our Croydon office and involves working on key water sector projects, including site visits, internal and client design review meetings, contractor and vendor liaison, and participation in feasibility studies, outline design, and detailed design.

Graduates will also be enrolled onto our 2‑year Graduate Programme, which is built around the competence requirements of professional institutions and provides opportunities to network with fellow graduates, develop project management, business and personal effectiveness skills, and gain training across the group.

Key Responsibilities
  • As a Graduate Process Engineer, you’ll:
  • Support the process design of water and wastewater treatment works
  • Assist with process calculations, mass balances, and hydraulic assessments
  • Help develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and technical reports
  • Work with senior engineers on feasibility studies, outline design, and detailed design
  • Support site visits, commissioning activities, and performance reviews
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and environmental teams
  • Learn and apply UK water industry standards and best practice
Qualifications
  • Essential: Degree (BEng or MEng) in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline; working towards or interest in Chartership (IMechE or equivalent); graduate or early‑career level (0–2 years); experience through placements, internships, or a year in industry in water or process engineering.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Understanding of core process engineering principles; knowledge of water/wastewater treatment processes; ability to produce calculations and technical documentation; awareness of health & safety and design risk management; experience with non‑infra water assets and treatment plant design.
  • Software & Tools: Competence in Microsoft Office; experience with 2D/3D CAD tools (e.g. AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works); willingness to learn new engineering software; familiarity with industry design tools or BIM environments.
  • Personal

    Skills:

    Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to manage small design tasks independently; proactive approach and eagerness to learn; client‑facing experience or site exposure.
