AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced Civil Engineer to further develop their career, supporting our current and future projects, which range from drainage design, highway projects, defence schemes and data centre design through to construction site experience. The position will allow increasing responsibility in both technical delivery and project management.
You will be part of our specialist Civil Engineering discipline as part of a wider AECOM Engineering community, collaborating with ground, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, architects, project managers, environmental specialists and surveyors based in the UK and overseas. You will work with public and private sector clients across a diverse range of sectors including local authorities, transport authorities, defence, healthcare, industrial, education and leisure.
Here’s what you’ll do:
- Prepare and review survey specifications, including utilities and topographical surveys.
- Check and coordinate the production of studies, assessments and conceptual designs for development schemes (drainage, highways, utilities, earthworks and flood risk).
- Contribute to the design and delivery of highways, drainage and associated infrastructure for complex, multidisciplinary developments.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and key stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure compliance.
- Contribute to bids and proposals, attend project meetings and confidently communicate technical solutions.

Qualifications & RequirementsWe recognise that a variety of experiences and backgrounds may suit this role. Below is a non‑exhaustive list of skills and qualifications we are seeking:
- Civil Engineering degree and/or master’s degree.
- Relevant experience in UK development‑related infrastructure engineering.
- The ability to produce the design of highways, access roads and development infrastructure, including road geometry, public realm, earthworks, pavements, drainage and services.
- Knowledge of relevant standards and guidance.
- Experience using 3D computer modelling packages such as Civil 3D.
- Experience in drainage design including piped systems, SuDS systems and familiarity with storage design and software such as Info Drainage.
- Progress towards a professional qualification (IEng/CEng) is preferred.
