At South West Water, we're investing in the resilience, performance and sustainability of our wastewater network like never before. We're looking for a strategic and data-driven Head of Wastewater Asset Health to lead our understanding of asset condition across a diverse and critical wastewater portfolio.
This is a rare opportunity to influence how we assess, monitor and prioritise investment in assets that serve millions of customers and protect the environment across the South West.
Due to the nature of the role and the need to build strong relationships across the business, regular presence in our Exeter office is required.
What you'll be doing:
As Head of Wastewater Asset Health, you will lead the development of our asset health strategy, ensuring we have a clear understanding of the condition, performance and risk profile of key wastewater assets across the region.
You'll oversee condition monitoring programmes, asset surveys, data collection and reporting, transforming complex information into meaningful insight that supports investment planning, operational decision making and regulatory submissions.
Working across Asset Management, Engineering, Operations and Capital Delivery, you'll play a key role in building the evidence base that supports future investment and long-term asset resilience.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading wastewater asset condition monitoring and survey programmes.
Developing and maintaining asset health data, records and risk assessments.
Providing asset condition insight to support investment prioritisation and long-term planning.
Developing asset-specific strategies for critical assets such as rising mains, digesters and surge vessels.
Supporting regulatory submissions and Ofwat cost enhancement cases through robust evidence and analysis.
Developing analytics, dashboards and decision-support tools that turn data into action.
Leading and developing a high-performing specialist team.
What we're looking for:
We're looking for an experienced asset management leader who combines technical expertise with strategic thinking and a passion for using data to drive better outcomes.
You'll bring: Significant experience in asset management, ideally within the water, wastewater or wider utilities sector.
Strong knowledge of asset planning frameworks, regulatory environments and risk-based investment decision making.
Experience leading asset condition, inspection, survey or monitoring programmes.
A strong understanding of asset health assessment and deterioration modelling.
Experience developing analytical tools, dashboards and data-driven insights.
Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at senior level.
A degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Data Science or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
