Mechanical Design Engineer
The Vacancy Working within the R&D department, you will be responsible for R&D design initiatives alongside the maintenance, update and optimisation of existing product ranges within production. Reporting to the Technical Engineering Manager, you will be expected to support R&D projects that provide cost reduction, manufacturing and quality improvements in addition to the continuous improvement of existing product ranges. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to improve product performance, reliability, manufacturability, quality and cost;
as well as managing design changes from initial concept through to implementation.

as well as managing design changes from initial concept through to implementation.
- Product design and development – Accountable for design updates of existing products from initial concept through to manufacture, ensuring designs meet customer, technical, functional, quality and cost requirements
- Design for manufacture – Ensure products are designed for efficient, repeatable and cost – effective manufacture and assembly
- Cross-functional collaboration – Work closely with new product development teams, Production Engineering, Quality, Purchasing and Marketing to ensure successful product design implementation
- Project support and delivery – Accountable for being the technical support for R&D initiative projects, ensuring that project deadlines are met, relevant stakeholders are involved and project progress is reported
- Design risk management – Identify, assess and mitigate design risks throughout existing product design updates
- Engineering standards – Ensure designs comply with engineering standards, legislation and company procedures, liaising with the new product development stakeholders
- Continuous improvement – Provide design support for manufacturing departments within the business for optimisation, continuous improvement and cost reduction projects
