Structural Technician

Build Maintain Recruit Limited is working with an established engineering consultancy in Exeter that is looking to appoint a Structural Technician to join its growing team.

This is a great opportunity for a Technician who enjoys a varied workload and wants to work closely with engineers rather than simply sitting within a large drawing office.

You'll be involved in a broad mixture of residential, commercial and development projects, supporting schemes from initial design through to detailed construction information.

The business takes a practical, hands-on approach to engineering, so you'll have the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge while becoming involved in different stages of a project.

As Structural Technician, you'll be responsible for:

• Producing detailed structural drawings and technical information
• Developing and updating CAD drawings and models
• Working closely with Structural Engineers to turn designs into accurate, buildable information
• Supporting projects from initial design through to detailed stages
• Coordinating drawings with engineers and other project disciplines
• Carrying out drawing reviews and quality checks
• Assisting with site visits and surveys where required
• Managing your workload across a number of live projects
• Ensuring drawings are delivered accurately and within agreed timescales

We're keen to hear from Structural Technicians with experience gained within an engineering consultancy or similar environment.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Previous experience producing structural engineering drawings
• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD
• Experience with Revit would be advantageous
• A good understanding of building structures and construction methods
• Experience across residential and/or commercial projects
• Strong attention to detail
• Good communication and organisational skills
• A proactive approach and willingness to continue developing technically

You don't necessarily need to tick every box. A solid structural background, good technical drawing skills and the right attitude are more important.

You’ll be joining a supportive engineering team with a varied project workload, good exposure to different types of structures and the opportunity to develop your responsibilities as you progress.

It would particularly suit someone looking for a smaller consultancy environment where they can become an important part of the team and work closely with experienced engineers.
