Finance Director – Duties

• Responsible for the day‑to‑day finance function, including managing and mentoring a team of two.
• Collaborate with the board, providing financial leadership, commercial insights and strategic input to ensure the financial health, stability and growth of the business; develop 5‑year projections and deliver monthly MI reporting.
• Budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and identifying working capital requirements.
• Business‑partner budget holders, build financial understanding, challenge as needed, ensure accurate cost allocations and identify cost‑reduction opportunities.
• Responsible for monthly group financial reporting and year‑end accounts, ensuring accuracy and validity of all financial records.
• Maintain and improve finance processes and controls across the business.
• Financial modelling for new opportunities and projects, ensuring financial viability, highlighting risks and accounting requirements.
• Deliver financial analysis to improve financial understanding and profitability where possible.

Salary: £60,000 – £80,000pa + benefits including onsite parking, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, pension, etc.

Hours: Mon – Fri, 8:30am – 5pm

Location: In office, near Exeter

• Proactive, commercially astute accountant seeking a varied, hands‑on role with a growing SME.
• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA or ACA) with relevant operational finance experience.
• Use commercial skills to see the bigger picture, plan ahead while ensuring timely monthly reports.
• Problem‑solver with excellent analytical skills, able to prioritise and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced business.
• First‑rate communicator, able to inspire, persuade and influence, and empower others to achieve.
• Team player who enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues at all levels.
• Strong IT skills with experience of Sage 200 are beneficial.
