VAT Manager​/Senior VAT Manager

Flexible working, with some Exeter office presence required.

A lot of VAT roles at Manager level become too narrow.

Too much compliance review.

Too many technical queries in isolation.

Not enough client exposure, Partner contact or advisory variety.

This is different.

The firm already has the client base, internal relationships and wider advisory platform. There is growing demand for specialist VAT support and a clear opportunity for someone at Manager or Senior Manager level to play a visible role in that growth.

This is aimed at someone already operating at VAT Manager or Senior VAT Manager level.

Someone who can advise clients, support Partners, manage technical VAT work and help colleagues across the firm navigate more complex VAT matters.

Likely work will include:

• VAT reviews
• property-related VAT
• partial exemption
• international VAT
• HMRC queries and investigations
• planning and risk work
• technical support across the wider firm
• supporting wider tax and accounts teams

This is not a role for someone who wants to sit in the background and process VAT queries.

It needs someone who enjoys technical VAT work, but also wants more client contact, more advisory exposure and more visibility across a growing specialist service.

The appeal is the combination of established client base, internal referral network and room to progress. The platform is already there, but the role still has space for someone to build credibility and make a visible impact.

Preference is for someone who can be in Exeter a couple of times a week, but there is flexibility. Once every other week is likely to be the minimum for the right person.
