Key Responsibilities of a Revenue and Benefits Officer:
Assess and determine liability for Business Rates accounts Apply reliefs and exemptions (including Retail, Hospitality & Leisure Relief) Manage billing, adjustments, and account queries Handle recovery and enforcement processes in line with legislation Respond to customer enquiries, disputes, and appeals Interpret and apply complex legislation, case law, and guidance Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with statutory deadlines Work independently while contributing to wider team objectives Requirements Strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK Business Rates legislation (including Local Government Finance Acts) Proven experience working within a local authority or similar environment
Experience with billing, recovery, enforcement, and reliefs Ability to interpret legislation and provide clear, accurate advice Confident handling appeals, disputes, and complex correspondence High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines Able to work with minimal supervision Whats on Offer Hybrid working Competitive rate of pay Immediate start available Opportunity for contract extension If this Revenue and Benefits Officer role is of interest please apply or contact
