Clinical Nurse Specialist ACCEND

The Cancer Services team have secured funding for 15 hours across both sites for the implementation of ACCEND. This may be two posts with existing Clinical Nurse Specialists undertaking additional hours within their current roles. Both sites will be covered remotely and face to face.

This Career Pathway, Core Cancer Capabilities in Practice (CiP) and Education Framework for the Nursing and Allied Health Professions Workforce (the Framework) has been developed as part of a UK wide programme called the Aspirant Cancer Career and Education Development programme (ACCEND).

The ACCEND programme aims to provide transformational reform for the career pathways and associated education, training, learning and development opportunities for the workforce providing care to people affected by cancer.

The overall purpose of this Framework is to support the development of the workforce providing care to people affected by cancer by helping our patients to stay healthy, when they need it most.

The post holder will be required to work autonomously as well as part of the immediate MDT and larger teams participating in the implementation of ACCEND across the organisation. You will give advice, instigate meetings, training opportunities working with team to embed into operational business as normal.

This is an exciting opportunity for any cancer clinical nurse specialist to develop communication, leadership and enhance project management.

You will provide essential communication to improve visibility of ACCEND, developing KPIs and working closely with the lead Cancer nurses and cancer alliance.

Working Pattern: 15hrs (can be split 7½hrs across sites, Oncology Centre or Seamoor Unit) Fixed Term Contract 12 months

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2026‑7 rates, inclusive of a 3.3% pay award implemented from April 2026. If you join before this date, remuneration will be based on the 2025‑6 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2025/26 | NHS Employers)
